4 Instagram Artists to Follow!

Hello! Im writing this while I’m sat on the sofa, Disney films on the TV, with my poorly girl cuddled next to me, so I thought I would get started on this next blog. I wasn’t sure what to write about this month partly because everything seems to be on fast forward at the moment and I’m not entirely sure where the last month has gone; it feels like I only just finished writing my previous blog! Saying that, its been a good month, I’ve been lucky enough to have two great commissions to complete these last few few weeks which I have loved working on; one is a surprise for a 40th birthday and the other will be heading up to Scotland as a Christmas present. The birthday surprise commission took a while as it is A3 with a lot of detail. There was no posts on social media in order to keep the secret and I must admit it was strange and I knew the algorithm would make me pay for my absence. Instagram is frustrating to say the least at the moment and I think everyone feels this way. I definitely think I started sharing my work late which has meant it has been really difficult to increase my followers and to build up a community. So, for this blog I thought I would share a few artists I follow on instagram and accounts you should really take a look at.

The first artist I would like to mention is France Van Stone aka Wagonized. She creates the most amazing drawings using biro as you can see below. There is so much skill in her work and I love the contrast between light and shadow as well as the marks she uses. She posts quite a few videos of her drawing process and they are amazing to watch. Be warned though, once you start watching its hard to stop! My favourites are her animal portraits as they have so much personality. A truly fantastic artist.

I discovered this next artist on instagram recently and just love her large layered pieces. Jade Krupa or zaworski art and homestead, creates work with masses of personality especially her animal portraits. Krupa starts by drawing the animals in pen including any detail, watercolour is then added, but it’s when she adds the charcoal that the magic happens and she brings these portraits to life. Again there are some great videos on her Instagram account as well as lots of stills to study. I would highly recommend taking a look at Krupa - she’s currently one of my favs!

I have followed Aga Kubish of sea.nest.art.studio for a while and I am in awe of her talent. Kubish is an extraordinary printmaker specialising in lino printing. She works to a large scale and there is so much detail, I honestly don’t know how she does it or has so much patience. Her work is just beautiful, it draws you in and the more you look the more detail you see.

Finally, Irene Meniconi is another artist I have followed for a while. A mixed media artist, she is inspired by animals and combines watercolour, pen and sometimes collage in her pieces. They are normally very colourful and she works into areas of detail with pen to create shape and form. I love her use of colour and once she adds the pen her pieces come alive. Meniconi’s instagram feed is full of beautifully composed photos of her pieces, it really is inspiring to scroll through.

Well, that’s another blog written, I hope you enjoyed it. My girl is asking for cuddles so I’ll finish there. Look out for my next and final blog of 2022 in December!
