It’s been a year!!!

Well! It’s now been a year since I set up this Art business of mine and opened my Etsy shop, and what a year! It’s been exciting, frustrating, busy and I have learnt soooo much! I finished my second Art Fair last weekend and I am now getting ready for my third Art Fair in just over a week - not sure I planned that well as they are exhausting and I am most definitely feeling it! As you can imagine it’s been super busy and I am in ‘Fair mode’, so I thought I would keep this blog simple and positive by reviewing the successes of the year and sharing some plans for my second year! (Warning: This months blog will be a quick read due to the Art Fairs!)

The Successes…..

  1. Opening my Etsy shop - I felt so nervous when it opened as it was such a big step for me.

  2. Building and publishing my website - that was definitely a new skill. I didn’t have a clue what I was doing and just learnt as I went along. I actually didn’t think I would enjoy it but I did!

  3. The Fishponds signage installed in the park - it is strange even now seeing my work when I walk through the park! It’s a constant reminder for me to step out of my comfort zone and say ‘yes’ to those opportunities especially when they will be a challenge.

  4. ‘The Bond’ commission - there was so much detail which I loved loosing myself in.

  5. ‘Rolo’ commission - he was such a handsome doggo to draw.

  6. The pet portraits for Pets on the Parade - I loved drawing all those different animals! It was such a fun project and I loved every minute of it!

7. Exhibiting at my first and now second Art Fair - this was both nerve wracking and so much fun. I cannot explain how much I learn from each fair I do and how much my confidence grows. It’s not only about selling my work, but it’s also meeting and talking to visitors and other exhibitors, sharing experiences and opportunities.

8. ‘Homes Past and Present commission’ - that was a lot of bricks to draw but such a complement to be trusted to create such a personal piece.

9. Developing my style further especially with the recent work created based on birds.

The Plans….

  1. My third Art Fair…. updates to follow!

  2. A Christmas Market….updates to follow on this one too!

  3. Exhibiting at a local business in a few weeks.

  4. Branching out and selling Christmas decorations in my Etsy shop - and hoping they sell!

  5. Giving my Etsy shop a big overhaul - this is really needed!

  6. Branching out alongside my Etsy shop.

  7. Experimenting with different materials to add a different dimension to my work - I am very excited to play around a bit.

  8. Adding hand-embellishments to my high quality Giclée prints - it will be so good to turn this into reality as it’s been floating around my head for a while now.

  9. Handmade cards coming soon - I’ve already made a few which I took to the Art Fair last week!

  10. Social media plan - I know I need to invest in social media more rather than see it as a quick job done, so watch this space.

  11. A secret project which I can hopefully share with you soon!

  12. A lovely commission which I cannot wait to start!

Right, now back to the Art fair prep! I will write a longer blog next month - promise!
